Contrôle du profil de courant par ondes cyclotroniques électroniques dans les tokamaks

Abstract : The injection of radiofrequency waves has proven successful in driving the toroidal current required for the plasma confinement in a tokamak. This confinement depends on the shape of the current profile, which directly determines the performances of the discharge and advanced scenarios aim at its optimisation. In this framework and owing to their specific features, electron cyclotron (EC) waves have received increasing interest. In this thesis, several aspects of the EC wave-plasma interaction are studied. For instance, in advanced scenarios, the idea of combining EC and lower hybrid (LH) waves is promising because of their complementary features. A large part of this work has thus been devoted to the theoretical and experimental study of combined discharges. The obtained results, among which the analytical demonstration of a synergy effect between LH and EC waves, clearly shows the advantages of this kind of scenario and motivates the development of new experiments.
