Comportement en oxydation à l'air et comportement électrochimique dans le verre fondu d'alliages nickel-chrome

Abstract : Detailed knowledge of interfacial reactions and kinetics between metals or alloys and molten glass is of interest for glass-metal seal enamel, coating technology tools used for glass-making and electric melting of glass. We wanted to evaluate corrosion resistance in molten glass for nickel-chromium alloys and O.D.S. (Oxide Dispersion Strengthened) nickel-chromium alloys. First, the oxidation of O.D.S. superalloys was studied in air between 1100 and 1300°C. The kinetics of the oxidation have been measured and the oxide scales characterised. Then, because the interaction between metals and molten glass is of electrochemical nature, electrochemical techniques for corrosion studies were chosen. After the determination of the electrochemical properties of the glass, corrosion studies could be achieved. The materials studied were pure metals (iron, nickel, chromium), binary nickel-chromium alloys and O.D.S. nickel-chromium alloys preliminary studied in oxidation. In this work, the general principles of the corrosion in molten glass of iron, nickel, chromium and nickel-chromium alloys could be outdrawn.
