Modélisation numérique de l'incertitude dans un réservoir pétrolier : application à l'optimisation de la trajectoire des puits

Abstract : This dissertation has been written from an original viewpoint between seismic imaging and drilling and develop a methodology to design optimal well trajectories which are the ideal compromise between the uncertainty given by the geophysicist and the technical feasability asserted by the drilling engineer. This dissertation deals with three aspects essentially. First, a data structure provides the geologist, the geoscientitst and the drilling engineer a common look-and-feel for target design on a computer work station, which allow designing targets on the geological model as follows : • A well target is a collection of control points and drilling engineering constraints. • The control points are linked with the radius of curvature method using various algorithms. • The targets are edited interactively on the geological model in the 3D space of a graphical window. The second aspect is the optimisation of well targets. In that purpose an evolution algorithm has been developed along with the standard genetic algorithm. They both manipulate the control points of the well object — data structure — to find the optimal locations. It holds the drilling engineering constraints that are implicitely passed and respected by the optimisation procedure. Finally, the two previous concepts are used for the optimisation of well planning on a depth migrated model known with a significant uncertainty. An innovative approach is proposed, which gives a large part to the continuous and fast improvments in drilling technologies
