Étude expérimentale et analytique pour la caractérisation des échanges thermiques locaux et globaux à l'interface meule/pièce en rectification

Abstract : The grinding energy is essentially converted into heat, yielding high temperatures and thermal damage of the workpiece. The purpose of this thesis is the experimental estimation of the global and local heat flux and the corresponding energy partition to the workpiece for regular grinding of steels with aluminium oxide wheel. The temperature and the real contact length between the wheel and the workpiece were measured using a grindable thermocouple. A dynamic calibration with a laser spot was conducted to measure the time constant of the sensor. The transparency of this measurement technique was studied analytically at the local scale of the grain and numerically at the global scale of the wheel. It was found that the systematic errors in the maximal temperature are attributed to the mica foil, the thermo physical properties of the grain, the workpiece and the electrode but also to the relative difference between the specific energy of the workpiece and the constantan foil. It was found that the sensor is very accurate in the cooling zone which has been used to perform a good fitting of experimental curves by numerical results and to estimate the global heat flux. A high frequency analysis of the signal has shown flash temperatures corresponding to the local temperature under the grain with very high heating speed of about 100°C/µs. To determine the local heat flux, the model of the moving circular heat source was used. We have made the fitting in the heating time and the comparison between the theoretical and experimental cooling has demonstrated that the sensor is fast enough for the estimation of the local temperature and the local heat flux.
