Dispositif ultrasonore pour hyperthermie intracavitaire : Applications envisagées aux traitements des tumeurs cancereuses prostatiques ou vaginales

Abstract : Our work concerns conception, realization and characterization of ultrasonic probes fitted for use in treatment of vaginal, prostatic or rectal cancerous tumors by the way of intracavitary hyperthermia. In a first part, a theoritical approach of the characteristics of the ceramics is done. Efficiency, electric impedance and the equivalent circuit studied. An algoritm, using SIMPSON's integration method, allows to calculate the beam diagram. The second part is devoted to the methodology and the experimental results. The spatial distribution of acoustic intensity has been measured in water and glycerol by means of a low dimension piezoelectric detector. So the directivity and the penetration depth of the ultrasonic beam have been determined. We have shown that wobbling improves the beam homogeneity on its whole width. Variations of thermic gradients in space are shown as function of time and emission powers. Superficial cooling allows to produce a maximum of hyperthermia in depth.
