Les quotidiens lorrains d'expression française pendant l'entre-deux-guerres (1919-1939)

Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to study the daily press in Lorraine during the period between the two world wars (1919-1939). In a first part, we observe the newspapers all along their existence, sometimes very brief, sometimes secular. A long period of readjustment began for moselle which had just become french again. The newspapers "from lorraine" banned in 1914, are brought back to life. In the rest of the region, the competition becomes difficult. A newspaper outclasses the others, little by little : "l'est republicain". The second world war will come as a new shock for the daily press. The second part analyzes the newspapers from Lorraine, taken as an industrial production (a newspaper is, first, a firm but also a special merchandise which has to be sold after manufacturing), and an intellectual creation as well (who are the journalists ? Who are the people, gathered in "pressure groups", who try to control them ? Study of the newspaper's content). The last part is meant to be practical. The main daily newspapers are analized one by one (through history, legal and financial structure, manufacturing, editorial staff and editing, newspaper's policy) : le Courrier de Metz, l'Eclair de l'Est, l'Express de l'Est, l'Est Républicain, l'Impartial de l'Est, le Lorrain, le Messin, le Républicain Lorrain, le Télégramme des Vosges
