Etude du champ de contraintes d'une plaque possédant une entaille en V avec différentes acuités et application aux mesures de la ténacité des matériaux fragiles

Abstract : The analysis of stress distribution and the calculation of the stress intensity factor to a V-notch are of basic significance in the fracture mechanics. In this study, the attention is paied to the blunted tip V-notch problem which is more complex than the sharp V-notch one. The conformal transformation method of Schwartz-Cristoffel associated with the elastic equations was improved and developed so as to determine the stress field near the blunted notch tip of a finite plate with different acuity until the case of a relative large rounded tip. An iteration method was applied to approach the exact transformation. Le calculation was also carried out for other plates such as a weld joint, a ?late with elliptic or parabolic notch. The results of the calculation were satisfatory and gave a possibility to analyse the stress concentration and the stress gradient at the notch tip. The relationship between the notch stress intensity factor and the notch acuity was studied. In this case, more coefficients have to determine the fracture toughness of brittle materials such as ceramics. An application to a brittle molybdene alloy was presented as an example of this method
