Georges Bataille : la perte, le don et l'écriture

Abstract : Is expenditure possible ? This was the question Georges Bataille encountered during the first years of the war, a question that would drive him to radically change the direction of his past reflections. After having admitted to the impossibility of expenditure, he turned in effect - thanks to Maurice Blanchot - from the " will to loss " to the " will to chance " and sought less to realize expenditure himself than to let it happen on its own. The strange writing of La Somme athéologique, should be understood in relation to this shift in perspective. In order to remain faithful to the " will to chance ", Bataille found himself simultaneously in front of the prohibition and the obligation to write, and therefore similar to the writer described by Blanchot in " De l'angoisse au langage ". The present dissertation, which puts into relief these " dramatic events " experienced by Bataille during World War II, attempts to analyze certain post-atheological and literary texts.
