L'aménagement du Rhin en Alsace : objectifs, moyens, conséquences

Abstract : This thesis is a study of a regional planning case linked to a river. The research context - the Rhine’s French-Germany sector - was so definite because of its many important planning works. These works, made in several phases during the two last centuries, are presented in a chronological way by distinct chapters. Their analysis is made by examining the planning factors - defined here as objectives, means, consequences - and theirs inter relationships. The aim of this study understands the planning process in its historical evolution, to better detecting its perspectives and its useful lessons for such future works. This thesis may be also considerate as a contribution to the study of Alsace’s regional development since the year eighteen hundred
