Mise au point des mesures et détermination des activités superoxyde dismutases totales chez Unio tumidus, bivalve dulçaquicole en conditions physiologiques et de stress chimique

Abstract : The aim of this work was to evaluate the potential utility of superoxide dismutase as indicator of exposure to toxicants in a freshwater mussel, Unio tumidus. Four methods were tested for the measurement of SOD. The method of Paoletti and al. (1986) was retained and used for determination of basal activities in reference site. No effect of encagement was seen in a first study. Effects of a complex industrial effluent (PAH, PCB, metals) were tested afterwards during a field study : mussels encaged were placed upstream and downstream the pollution source for two or four weeks. The total activity of SOD was constant and similar to the activity in the reference site. SOD activity was not modified after exposure to copper or/and thiram for three days in the laboratory
