Information professionals, academics and blogs: from knowledge sharing to debates

Abstract : This study explores the French LIS blogosphere and more specifically the blogs maintained by information professionals and academics (LIS researchers, PhD students). They constitute an expert network, a community of practice in which they share information and open up the debate on the changes caused by the digital technologies in their professional practices. This blogosphere is considered as a new tool for knowledge dissemination but also as a new communication channel. It encourages social connections between the bloggers and their readers and leads to hybridization between professionals and academics.
