Information professionals, academics and blogs: from knowledge sharing to debates

Abstract

This study explores the French LIS blogosphere and more specifically the blogs maintained by information professionals and academics (LIS researchers, PhD students). They constitute an expert network, a community of practice in which they share information and open up the debate on the changes caused by the digital technologies in their professional practices. This blogosphere is considered as a new tool for knowledge dissemination but also as a new communication channel. It encourages social connections between the bloggers and their readers and leads to hybridization between professionals and academics.
