La (dé)mythification de l’artiste colombien – Miguel Ángel Rojas et José Alejandro Restrepo

Abstract : For some decades, certain Colombian artists have been trying to rethink the concept of the Colombian identity nowadays, more specifically, that of the Colombian artist. Beyond the stereotype of what being “Colombian” means, as seen from the outside, past its colonial history – and all its problems – common to Latin American countries, as well as a recent history, more particularly known for its extreme violence, we can say that the Colombian identity is the result of multiple, diverse and varied identities. Moreover, it could be defined by a common denominator as it was constructed over the last two centuries on the concept of “hybridity”.
