Regards en mouvement : l’interprétation des messages médiatiques sur les migrations par les exilé-e-s syrien-ne-s résidant en France

Abstract : Building on research that deals with the decoding of media messages by migrants this article studies the interpretation of media messages on migrations by Syrian exiles living in France since 2011 from data gathered in a series of photo-elicitation interviews. My main hypothesis is that the main biographical breaks (linked to the Syrian revolution and to forced migration) translate themselves into specific constraints that influence the decoding of the said media messages. The impact of these constraints is general, but its form varies according to sociodemographical factors, identification with cultural framings (including professional identity and political activism) and the distance between the spectators and the subjects of the representations put forward.
