Sur l'existence de comportement chaotique dans les systèmes manufacturiers

Abstract : Since the eighties, a number of researchers have attempted to demonstrate the existence of chaotic behaviour in both science and technology. Some works have approached the area of production systems, however the published results are not entirely convincing. Consequently the principal objective of our work has been to verify the existence of temporal chaotic behaviours in a flexible production workshop. We have developed a methodology to analyse the dynamics of production systems. First we have verified that a generic and flexible workshop can have a chaotic behaviour. Then we have proposed a measure of the dynamic complexity of a production workshop : the Lyapunov fractal dimension. This measure allowed us to study the relationship between the routing tlexibility and the dynamic complexity of the system. We have observed an increment of dynamic complexity when the routing tlexibility is increased, but this relationship is not linear. We have applied our methodology to the study of dynamic behaviour of the tlexible cell in an automated production workshop (A.I.P.L.). Then we have shown that under some work conditions, the dynamics of the system is chao tic.
